Dr Martin Rhisiart
Director, Centre for Research in Futures and Innovation
Glamorgan Business School, University of Glamorgan
Martin is a specialist in strategic futures and innovation – a field in which he researches, consults and speaks internationally, with much of this work focusing on two key questions:
- What impact will economic, technological and social changes have on organisations?
- How can re-conceiving the future, with different conditions and assumptions, inform our decision-making in the present?
Martin has significant experience of designing and delivering research projects, consultancy assignments, training courses and workshops on topics such as global technology trends and drivers, scenario building and innovation. His assignments have included: Eco-Innova, an international research project focusing on developing eco-innovation; a Foresight project on global drivers and trends, and prioritisation of Research & Development for Forfás, the national policy advisory body for enterprise and science in Ireland, a management training workshop on scenarios for senior decision-makers at the European Parliament and an international research project on climate change adaptation.
He established the Centre for Research in Futures and Innovation at Glamorgan Business School in 2008, having previously worked at Cardiff Business School (1999-2008).
Martin is Chair of the UK Node of the Millennium Project, a global futures think-tank.
Based on his research, Dr. Martin Rhisiart’s presentation at Spotlight North Wales will consider ways we can build an innovative economy for the future.
